  27. Wavefilter does allow you to vary contrast. It also has adjustments for Red,
  28. Green, Blue, Brightness and Gamma. It's now ridiculously easy for me to
  29. raise the brightness of an image, instead of messing up my nice (but dim)
  30. lighting. Obviously, you can overdo it with these controls and ugly up your
  31. work (for example, too much brghtness will make highlights overexposed), but
  32. that's up to the individual animator, not Wavefilter. You can screw things
  33. up exactly the same way in Photoshop.

  35. A couple other nifty features are Negative and Flip Horizontal or Vertical.
  36. Plus a bunch more I won't get into here, except one: The Depth of Field is
  37. insane! Not only does it add just a few seconds to most render times (more
  38. blur takes longer), but you can control the camera's focal point with a null
  39. object. IT'S SO FRIGGIN' EASY! One of the better software investments I've made.

  41. The only downside is that to use Wavefilter, you must render your scenes in
  42. one segment, which can be a memory hog. This is actually LightWave's fault,
  43. and has to do with the way it allocates Z-buffers to plugins. A partial
  44. upside, though, is that many of Wavefilter's operations look only at pixels
  45. and not objects, so you can get exactly the same effect performing them on
  46. an image sequence instead of the entire scene. Obviously this won't work
  47. with Depth of Field, but it will with most others, including Antialias.
